Nuviderm
Nuviderm is made from a cosmetic acid commonly referred to as TCA and is not a cream. TCA is commonly used for facial peels, reduction or removal of acne scars, removal of warts, age spots, stretch marks and other forms of skin blemishes. The basic active ingredient in Nuviderm has been used for tattoo removal for approximately 30 years, and there is some evidence that it was used as far back as the 1920s for the removal of tattoos.
TCA MEDICAL STUDIES
- TCA is the only home tattoo removal product on the market today that has been the subject of two medical studies which have proved the effectiveness of TCA as a tattoo removal product.
TATTOO REMOVAL CREAMS HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN EFFECTIVE
- There are no medical studies proving tattoo removal creams are effective for the removal of tattoos. If there was such a study it would be used in all the tattoo removal cream literature to promote their products.
Nuviderm tattoo removal is sold as a concentrate which must be diluted. Each purchase comes with instructions that explain how to dilute and test the solution to ensure the proper strength is used based on the individual skin pH of the person using the product. This ensures the proper depth of peel and removal of the tattoo without damage to the skin. Nuviderm recommends using the weakest solution that will peel the skin.
When a person receives a tattoo the ink is injected into the second layer of skin, which is called the dermis. This is what makes a tattoo permanent. To remove a tattoo it is necessary to peel through the first layer of skin called the epidermis to get to the second layer of skin where the tattoo pigment is embedded. Following the recommended instructions and peeling very thin layers of skin at a time it takes 3 to 5 treatment cycles to peel through the first layer of skin. Treatment cycles vary in length from once every two to three weeks to once every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the strength of the solution used and the skin pH of the person being treated. Once the epidermis has been peeled away, and the dermis has been penetrated the tattoo pigment begins to peel away and fade with each successive treatment until it is completely gone.

- If a scab forms after the skin has peeled that is an indication that your peeling solution was to strong and will increase the length of the treatment cycle.
